The camera itself looks similar to the EOS R but is smaller. It has a buil-in 2.36MP electronic viewfinder and a vari-angle touchscreen that should please vloggers. Video capabilities include 40K 24P and 1080 60P. Mobile workflows, bluetooth, and built-in wifi make it pair well with canon’s Digital Photo Professional Express App.
Canon released an intro video about the camera as well.
In addition to the camera body announcement. Canon also announced six new RF lenses that they are developing and expect to release later in 2019. The six lenses are as follows:
- RF 85mm F1.2 L USM
- RF 85mm F1.2 L USM DS
- RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM
- RF 15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM
- RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM
- RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM
The 85mm F1.2L USM DS is interesting. Its defocus smoothing feature should yield very nice results coupled with a lens with a maximum f1.2 aperture. However, the difference between it and the standard 85mm F1.2L USM will have to be remarkable for both to have a place in the market.
