Ricoh announced the “100 Years of History Campaign” today. Later this year, on November 27th, the company will mark 100 the 100th anniversary of Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. Asahi Optical is the original manufacturer or Pentax -brand products. Read the press release here.
Ricoh is on a product announcement spree. Today, the company announced the Theta Z1, a compact 360-degree still camera with 23MP resolution form a back-illuminated CMOS sensor. The device will be on display at CP+ 2019. It is currently available for preorder with an April 2019 ship date. Read Ricoh’s press release here.
Ricoh announced the WG-6 compact digital camera. Designed to withstand rough conditions, the 20MP WG-6 works up to 20 meters under water. Additionally, the body is crushproof and can withstand 100 Kgf (Kilogram Force), has a built in multi-light for macro work, and a GPS module.

The G900 is a business/industry-oriented version of the WG-600 with features like password protection and the ability to withstand sterilization equipment in medical environments. The SE version of the G900 also adds Lan functionality. Read the G900 press release and the G900SE press release.
Ricoh announced the GR III compact camera. It replaces the GR II and continues a long line of GR cameras. Ricoh improved the sensor (up to 24MP from 16), upgraded the lens, and added in-body image stabilization can compensate for four stops of shake. Remarkably, the camera remains the same size. According to Canon Rumors, a G5 X Mk 3 is in the works. The site reports that the new camera is “finally on the way” but does not provide specific information or an estimated release date. The current G5 X came out in 2015 . It features a 20.2 MP 1″ sensor.

Rumors about the Leica Q2 are heating up, with some predictions that it will be announced in March. According to Leica Rumors the Ginza store confirmed the camera.The current Leica Q and Leica Q-P feature a 24.2 MP sensor. Some rumors suggest the Q2 could have a 47MP sensor as well as improved weather sealing.
Olympus is likely to announce the follow-up camera to the Olympus PEN-F. The PEN-F is already listed as discontinued on Olympus Japan’s web site.
